These rules keep Dash Networks fair and fun, in the city and on Discord. Staff judge by what a rule is for, not only its wording, so a loophole won't save a scene that breaks its spirit.
No rule matches that. Try another word, or a rule number.
At a glance
Every rule below comes from four ideas.
Be decentIn character or out, nobody here should feel targeted.
Stay in the storyYour character only knows what they saw, heard or were told in the city.
Value your lifeAct like your character wants to keep living.
Play fairNo cheats, no exploits, and no shortcuts that ruin it for someone else.
No harassment, bullying, threats, abuse or hate, in the city or on Discord.
Characters can clash. Characters can argue, trade insults and hate each other. That's roleplay. Going after the real person, their voice, looks or skill, isn't.
Hate speech. No slurs or attacks on anyone's race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or health, even in character. A group missing from this list isn't fair game, and staff decide where the line is.
It covers everything you show. Character and crew names, plates, clothing, tattoos, sprays, images and Discord profiles all count. No real-world hate symbols or extremist groups.
When a scene ends, it ends. Following someone around to keep mocking them after a scene is harassment. If it isn't settled, open a ticket.
Banter. Banter works while everyone is laughing, and stops the moment someone isn't.
Fine
Two rival characters trading insults that stay about the characters.
Friends trash talking each other, both in on the joke.
Not okay
Mocking someone's real voice, accent or age.
"My character is racist" as the excuse for a slur.
When staff step in, do what they ask first, and raise any disagreement in a ticket afterwards. Arguing on the spot can add to a punishment.
Do it first, question it later. Staff may pause a scene, bring you to them or ask you to stop something. Go along with it, even if you think they have it wrong.
Complaints. Complaints about staff go in a ticket, and an Admin handles them. Don't call staff out on Discord or stir others up.
Impersonating staff. No staff names, tags or claims of authority you don't have, and no "staff said so" to win a scene.
Off duty, staff are players. They follow the same rules as everyone else.
Only use what your character learned in the city. Streams, Discord calls and messages from friends are off limits for anything in-city, so plan on the in-game phone and radio.
What your character doesn't know. Anything you saw on a stream, heard in a Discord call or read in a chat, and the IDs /ids shows over heads.
Recognising people. By face, voice, clothes and car, the way your character could. Not by a name or ID you saw.
Calls while you play. A Discord call with friends is fine for chatting, but not for anything going on in the city. Use the phone and the radio.
Streamers. Don't act on tips from your chat.
Your other characters. Your characters are strangers. They never share money, items, vehicles or information, not even through a friend or a stash, and one never helps another.
Fine
Calling your friend on the in-game phone to tell them where you hid the car.
Not okay
Watching an officer's stream to see where they're parked.
Don't force outcomes nobody can answer, use menus or commands to win a scene, do what a real person couldn't, or leave the game to get out of one.
Give people a chance. A scene needs a way for others to respond. Declaring that you knocked someone out, with no chance for them to react, isn't roleplay.
Superhuman feats. No shrugging off what would stop a person, carrying more than you could, or driving where no car could go.
Menus mid-scene. Don't use menus or commands to heal, change clothes, swap cars or slip away while a scene is going.
The camera. Swinging the camera around a corner or through a wall to see what your character can't is powergaming.
Combat logging. Quitting, crashing your game on purpose or going AFK to dodge a scene, an arrest or a loss is punished, and what you were carrying can be taken. Every join and leave is logged.
Crashed for real? Come back as soon as you can and pick the scene up. If you can't get back, open a ticket and explain.
If a weapon is pointed at you and yours isn't out, comply. Don't run into gunfights, jump off cliffs or bait the police or a gang for a reaction.
Fear what a real person fears. Guns, falls, fire and fast cars. Act like getting hurt matters to you.
At gunpoint. Talk, plead, stall or bargain, but don't pull a weapon or run unless the scene gives you a real chance.
Outnumbered. If several people have weapons on you, fighting back isn't realistic.
Baiting. Don't provoke the police or a gang just to start a chase or a fight.
Roleplay your injuries. A crash, a fall or a gunshot hurts. Don't climb out of a big crash and sprint off. After a revive you're still hurt: take it easy, and give the medics something to work with.
If you respawn at the hospital or bleed out, your character forgets what led to it: no revenge, no reporting it in character, and stay away from that scene for 15 minutes. A medic's revive keeps your memory up to the moment you went down.
What you forget. Who downed you, and everything that led up to it.
What you keep. Who you are, who your friends are, and everything from before that scene.
Before you respawn. Wait for a medic, or for the scene to finish. Don't respawn while a scene around you is still going, even once the timer lets you.
No sexual content or sexual harassment, and no roleplay about suicide or self-harm, even as a joke. If someone says a scene makes them uncomfortable, stop.
Sexual content. No sexual roleplay, no sexual assault scenes, and no sexual comments or emotes aimed at anyone.
Self-harm. No roleplay about suicide or self-harm, and that includes jokes and threats.
Stop means stop. If someone says a scene is making them uncomfortable, end it and move on, without arguing.
If you're going through a hard time yourself, please talk to someone you trust, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14 (Australia).
Hostile action needs roleplay first: a reason, words, and a chance to respond. Killing someone who is complying, cuffed or down, without a real story behind it, is RDM.
A real reason. "He looked at me" isn't one. A robbery gone wrong, a feud you're both part of, or a threat to your life is.
What isn't RDM. Defending yourself when someone draws on you, and police using force as part of their job.
The paintball arena. At the Maze Bank Arena, the one place you can fight without roleplay. Cheats and abuse are still against the rules, and a fight there stays there.
Fine
Firing back at someone who opened fire on you.
Not okay
Shooting someone walking past because you were bored.
Killing someone who has their hands up and is doing what you asked.
Their hands must be up or they must be cuffed, and there has to be a scene first. Don't empty a car the moment it's unlocked or out of a garage, and don't hop from robbery to robbery with one line of roleplay.
Hands up or cuffed. You can only search and take from someone whose hands are up or who is cuffed. The city checks this.
A scene first. Talk, make your demands, and give them the chance to comply before you search them.
Off limits. Anyone in a safe zone, a medic on a call, and anyone who is down (rules 15 and 16).
Leave downed players alone, and never attack, hold up or kidnap a medic who is treating someone.
Once they're down, it's over. Don't rob, kidnap or finish off someone who is down. Let them call for help.
Waiting for them. Don't wait at the hospital, or wherever they'll come back, to start again.
Medics on a call. Medics on their way to a patient, or treating one, can't be attacked, held up, kidnapped or ambushed, and their patient can't be taken.
Off duty. A medic who is off duty is like anyone else.
In a hostile scene, your side can be up to 4 without a crew, 6 in a crew, or 10 in a gang. Major crimes need police on duty to answer them.
Who counts. Everyone on your side who takes part, including drivers, lookouts, and anyone passing on information.
Crews and gangs. Set them up in the Affiliations app on your phone. Only members count towards 6 or 10, and bringing in anyone from outside drops the limit back to 4.
Major crimes. Heists, hostage-takings and shootouts need police on duty to answer them. If you can't tell whether they're on, pick something smaller.
Hostages. A hostage has to be someone taken in the scene, not a friend playing along. Police won't trade money or weapons for one, so ask for something the scene can work with, like a head start.
Drive like it's real, and in a chase, drive to get away, not to fight.
Know your car. Supercars stay on the road, and off-road cars can leave it, within reason. No driving into buildings, up stairs, or off ramps just because the game lets you.
Chases. Fleeing is fine. Ramming the police or anyone else to stop them isn't, and neither is parking in a garage or using a menu to make your car vanish.
PIT. Only police may PIT, and only at a speed where nobody is likely to get badly hurt.
Aircraft and special vehicles. Helicopters, planes, military vehicles and anything armed or armoured need a job that uses them or an Admin's OK.
Cheats mean a permanent ban, and using a bug on purpose can mean one without warning.
Cheats. Mod menus, injectors, aimbots, wallhacks, macros, auto-clickers and anything else that gives you an edge. Having one running while you're connected counts, even if you say you didn't use it.
Graphics mods. Fine if they only change the look. Not if they thin out bushes, brighten the night or light up players.
Exploits. Duplicating items or money, clipping through walls, glitching out of cuffs or a car, and abusing a broken script. Spreading one counts the same as using it.
Found a bug? Tell us in a ticket. Don't try it again, and don't tell anyone else.
In the city, use /report. For everything else, open a ticket. Don't DM staff, and don't police other players yourself.
In the city. Use /report. Say who (their ID), what happened and when. /ids shows the server IDs around you for a few seconds. Reports are for rule breaks and getting help, not for "admin pls".
Everything else. Message the Dash Networks bot, or press the button in #open-a-ticket. Keep writing in the same DM; a ✅ on your message means staff have it. See Getting Help.
Vigilantes. Don't punish rule breakers yourself or call them out in public. Report it with the details and let staff deal with it.
Appeals. Once you've cooled off, open a ticket. An Admin who didn't give the ban decides it. See Appealing a Ban.
Punishments
Punishments grow each time you break the same rule again.
A verbal warning.
A written warning, which stays on your record.
A 1-day ban.
A 3-day ban.
Longer bans, each one longer than the last, up to a permanent ban.
A different rule broken is up to the staff member, who starts at the step that fits. Cheating, exploiting, hate, sharing someone's real-life details and dodging a ban can mean a permanent ban straight away.
Notes
Rules change. Check back now and then; the newest version is the one that counts.
Staff decide the edge cases. Where a rule doesn't cover something, staff go by what the rules are for.
Supporters play by the same rules. Store perks never put anyone above them.
"An Admin's OK" means an Admin. Moderators and Ambassadors can't give it.
